What ideas do you all have?
show proofs for x/y with professors
math and music day...sports and math (?)
newton’s method--->suggested by paul
concern that some people might be registered for x and y blocks
we might consider having these x and y presentations only once a quarter or once a month
should we adopt tutoring tshirts?
are we planning on pie for an entire week? Ms. runkel says no because she said buying pies and organizing it was hell
since pie day is on a saturday, should we switch to pie day?
Admissions process
definitely general confusion over the difference between associates, members, and just people that are interested
ms. runkel says she doesn’t think that the course requirement or class requirement should be changed, we should only change the actual application
ms runkel shows the group the application and says that they should be reading the questions
michael says that the questions are actually great
leah questions the extracurricular math experience question (should we make it optional)
adam suggests that we change the question to read “please list any extracurricular math experiences that you would like to share with us”
some people like the birthday cats, others like farm theme, but we all settle on ferris wheel
ms runkel says that younger people can be let in after we know how many calc people have applied and be let in
we show the website...and there is confusion about the difference in arabic numbers and roman numerals in the survey
weekly contest
darshan starts with so basically…
darshan explains the weekly contests
we are still waiting to determine what the final prize--->jimmy johns or chipotle gift cards
april is math awareness month
we show the board page and everyone is embarrassed by their pictures
everyone forgets about tutoring
paul comments about how weird his tutoring experience was
darshan: tutoring that you don’t sign up for doesnt count
maura wants to use doodle
ms runkel says “wow it simplifies scheduling”
everyone seems like they love doodle, especially paul and darshan
paul says “look at ms busy, got so much stuff and still making time for other things”
paul and emilio volunteer to tutor thursday morning
many people leave when its mentioned that darshan has a problem for us
